You get stronger as time goes on while Japan only gets weaker. You can out build them in everything so don't stress. You will have more IC, IC efficiency and leadership than them. As for Japan even if they are hard you are the USA. First never ever user the No modifiers setting. They are not however the godlike planes they were in vanilla.īalance wise I don't know who you are playing but going to take a wild guess and say USA. CAGs don't do a lot of damage in 40 and even 41 but by 42 they start to get good.

Shore bombardment and more divisions gave them the upper hand thus making you lose org quicker since you were losing.ĬAGs get a lot better as time goes on. Strength only matters if you reach 0% and shatter. Well it is hard to answer all your questions since you give little information around the situation. The other option is set the Black Ice difficulty to hard or more for yourself while leaving the other nations modifiers unchanged but would that mess up the balance as I've read the mod is meant to be played and I suspect only tested on the harder opponent difficulty levels I'd prefer the old characteristics and weakness to generally remain and not simply everybody maxed out in all aspects. The Japanese having practically everything researched roaming around with advanced Panzers that would impress Rommel kinda kills the immersion. Lastly I want to get the balance right between challenge and plausibility but I found setting Japan to hard or even normal boosts their leadership to much. I've read Carriers aren't nearly as effective in this mod. I can understand losing to 4 Marine Div as they are level 5 to my level 3 and had shore bombardment but half strength Infantry Divs?Īlso my fully researched Cags were shot to ribbons by their fleet AA while doing little damage themselves. Their Marine Div's stayed in the fight until their strength was wiped out. What would cause the Org to drop off so easily while my opponents Org dropped much in line with their strength. They had twice as many men and suffered three times as many killed but it was my marines Org depleting that cost them the battle despite only losing 15% strength.

Continuing my first game of Black Ice and I'll be adding questions here as I try figure things out.įirst oddity is I had 2 marine divisions attacked at Guam by 1 Japanese marine Div and 5 half strength Inf Divs and somehow conspired to lose.
