I found this quite old (8 years as of this writing) Reddit post that has a procedure to run through to get the saves onto your PC. Before tearing into it I decided to copy all the saves on her xbox to a flash drive (easily formatted by plugging into the 360 while at the dashboard) and figure out how to get her latest Skyrim save to work on an updated PC version of Skyrim. In the interim it seems laying the Xbox down in stead of vertical stops it RRODing but it still doesn't read discs. We had the Xbox Red Ring of Death'ing (RROD) a few months ago so I expected that the Xbox would have to be disassembled to be fixed. Skyrim Special Edition is expected to be released come 28th of October, 2016.My partner and I recently got out her old Xbox 360 and as a birthday present I thought I would either get the Xbox running again or pull her Skyrim saves off of it to play on PC. It should be noted that development of new content has stopped, as Hines has confirmed that there will not be anymore DLCs or content created for the Special Edition version of the game, beyond what is being released. Skyrim Special Edition will contain the game and all of its DLCs that have been released since. Hines also notes that the game will run on a 64-bit engine for the PC and that there will also be a separate creation kit for gamers looking to upload mods, all of which sound pretty great.
Unfortunately this feature is only for the PC as Hines has confirmed that console saved files cannot be transferred.
This means that if you have made progress in the game in terms of storyline, quests, or if you’ve managed to collect some cool gear that you don’t want to lose, you won’t. Now it seems that we have more good news to share about the game.Īccording to a tweet by Bethesda’s Pete Hines, he has confirmed with Bethesda’s game director Todd Howard that saved games from the original Skyrim can be transferred over to Skyrim Special Edition. Basically this is the original Skyrim that has been remastered for today’s modern gaming scene, which if you saw the trailer actually proved to be pretty impressive.
